Earth Day Network  Earth Day Network is the nonprofit coordinating body of worldwide Earth Day activities. Our goal is to promote a healthy environment and a peaceful, just, sustainable world by spreading environmental awareness through educational materials and publications, and by organizing events, activities, and annual campaigns. Our network includes more than 5,000 organizations in 184 countries.

Environmental Defense is a leading national nonprofit organization representing more than 300,000 members. Since 1967, we have linked science, economics, and law to create innovative, equitable, and cost-effective solutions to the most urgent environmental problems.

Garden Forever for Gardeners of All Ages and Abilities Gardening for people of all ages, abilities and lifestyles. If I could have but one wish it would be to garden forever.

Garden Writers Association of America  GWAA is the nonprofit association which provides leadership and opportunities for education, recognition, career development and a forum for diverse interactions for professionals in the field of garden communication.  Launched in 1995, Plant a Row for the Hungry (PAR) is a public service campaign of the Garden Writers Association of America (GWAA). Its goal is to help to feed the hungry by establishing PAR networks in every state and province in North America. In 1999, Home & Garden Television (HGTV) joined with GWAA as the national media sponsor of PAR. PAR has recorded over 1,800,000 pounds in donations.

KidsGardening! The National Gardening Association awards 400 Youth Garden Grants to schools, neighborhood groups, community centers, camps, clubs, treatment facilities, and intergenerational programs throughout the United States.

Musicians United to Sustain The Environment--M. U. S. E. Online!  Musicians United to Sustain the Environment (M. U. S. E.) is a rapidly growing non-profit environmental organization with two primary goals. First, we raise funds for effective grassroots environmental projects through CD sales, concerts, and public donations. Secondly, as we ply our musical craft, we heighten environmental awareness -- a vital step to help ensure the sustainable stewardship of our ecosystems.

Recycle City! Just a few years ago, this place was called Dumptown. For years, the folks living here hadn't thought much about where waste went when they threw it out. And, eventually, that became a very BIG problem...

Sierra Club: Explore, Enjoy and Protect the Planet The Sierra Club has over 600,000 members. Our mission statement: Explore, enjoy, and protect the wild places of the earth. Practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources. Educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment. Use all lawful means to carry out these objectives.

Thoreau, Walden, and the Environment This site, walden.org, contains the home pages for Henry D. Thoreau and for three nonprofit organizations: the Walden Woods Project, the Thoreau Society and the Thoreau Institute. (my guy!)  

USDA Forest Service Caring for the land and serving the people...

USGC  U.S. Geological Survey -- Science for a Changing World. The Earth Science Corps (ESC) is a field component of the USGS Volunteer for Science Program where volunteers may participate in USGS projects. USGS has an ongoing map annotation project where volunteers collect new information for use in the National Mapping Program.
